What is WORKs?
WORKs is a program that helps farmers, ranchers, and their families to make a transition from farming and ranching to non-farm employment.

How do I qualify?

  • Farming or ranching is your primary occupation and you intend to make a transition from farming or ranching as your primary occupation.
  • The farm has been negatively affected by current economic conditions.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Meet certain financial guidelines.

  • How can WORKs help?

  • Help with mileage and child care while you attend classes or look for employment.
  • Provide employers with a monetary incentive to hire you for on the job training, so you may earn a salary while learning a new career.
  • Help pay for tuition and books for training.
  • Assess your skills and strengths.
  • Locate jobs in your area.
  • Provide assistance in applying for a job.
  • We work with colleges, community colleges, truck driving, welding and other skilled trade schools.
